Who is Lisa Budin Price?
She’s a singer, performer, artist, and producer & principal performer in the Remembering The Carpenters Tribute Show, amongst other things.
Lisa Budin Price is a well-known regular on the Sydney cabaret scene, an angel to oldies, and one of the most avid Carpenters fans you’ll ever meet. Heart of gold, infectious laugh, and a naughty twinkle in her eye; Lisa has the voice of a songbird and a lust for life that leaves us mere mortals breathless.
Lisa, you created the show, Remembering The Carpenters and have performed this show at clubs and theatres around East Coast Australia for many years now, tell us why the Carpenters, and what makes your show special?

“I have been performing the music of the Carpenters for 24 years. I absolutely love them; the songs are timeless perfect pop songs. At the age of 4, I can remember my mother playing their music and singing along to the songs, so I grew up with the Carpenters as the soundtrack to my youth. “
“I think my show stands out because I am such a big fan of the Carpenters and because I genuinely love the songs. The songs also really suit my voice; I often get complimented about that.”
“My Remembering The Carpenters tribute show is unique because I can combine the songs with history and stories and fun anecdotes and it is a genuine tribute. I love The Carpenters!”
“During the show, I will combine songs from acts of the era and discuss how they connected with the Carpenters. I like to bring in my own stories too, showing how this musical brother-sister duo changed the life of one little Canadian Australian thousands of miles away. It was called “captivating” by one critic. Music can heal, inspire, enthuse, captivate and I love watching the expressions on people’s faces as they disappear into my story.”
Canada and The Philippines next year, America the year after, looks like you have some international adventures on the horizon.
“Yes! I have been invited to sing in America at the 55th anniversary of the Carpenters and to represent Australia there. I attended as a member of the public in 2019 and the organizers invited me to perform in 2024. That’s very exciting for me.”
“I’ve also just returned from The Philippines where I sang in a few hotels and have been invited back next year and my agent keeps talking about sending me to South Africa (hint hint!)”
“I am also off to Canada to my hometown, London Ontario, to perform at the London Grand Theatre. That’s a dream for me; to be able to bring the show back to where it all began. The town where my mother sang along and influenced her tiny 4-year-old daughter who would later go on to perform those songs in front of thousands of people each year.”

Besides the Remembering The Carpenters, and your chart-topping, super singalong-dance along- extravaganza, Superstars Celebration, you’re also well known for your work with an older generation. Everything from cabaret performances, and visits to aged care and respite care – you even run your own oldies groups hosting entertainment monthly for several different groups around Sydney. What inspires you to spend so much time with the older generation?
“Daytime cabaret performances are so much fun for me. I love being able to mix it all up with great old singalongs or play my guitar and ukulele. It’s wonderful to experience the joy that other people experience when their nostalgia buttons are tweaked. ”
“I get a great deal of pleasure working with the older generation. I particularly enjoy working with dementia patients as the music seems to bring them back to life and it’s incredible to watch the joy on their faces as they hear one of their favorite songs.”
What can we expect from Lisa Budin Price in 2023?
I am very excited about the possibilities and opportunities that 2023 will bring me and my shows. I am looking forward to staging Remembering the Carpenters across East Coast Australia and parts of the world.
